For seafood lovers, the abundance of fresh cod, halibut, and salmon from the Norwegian Sea is a feast for the senses. One must-try dish is "mølje," a winter specialty featuring poached cod, roe, and liver, which mirrors the region's pure and untouched waters. Additionally, Lofoten's lamb, known as "Lofotlam," is renowned for its distinctive flavor, attributed to the sheep grazing on the wild grasses and herbs of the area.

Autumn golf in Lofoten

As October arrives in Lofoten, a magical transformation blankets the landscape in hues of amber and gold. This is the first (and last) opportunity to play golf under the Aurora Borealis. Days earlier, and it is not dark enough at night. Days after, the frost might make it impossible to play golf in Lofoten.

This is it. A once in a lifetime opportunity to do something magical: play a round of golf under the Northern Lights.

In October, Lofoten experiences a gradual transition from the lingering glow of summer to the crisp embrace of autumn. The weather begins to cool, with average temperatures ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius (41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit). As the month progresses, the days shorten, casting a gentle twilight over the landscape and opening the dark skies to welcome the auroras.
